Ben Skinner sets sights on surf competition in China

Skinner’s Brewery’s team rider Ben Skinner has his sights on a big competition win next week.

Son of the founder Steve, and prolific world surfer in his own right, Ben is off to China to compete in one of the best surf competitions in the world; tipped as one of the top contenders to take the gold.

The world’s leading longboarders are set to come together in Wanning, China at the 2018 ISA World Longboard Surfing Championship.

The men’s class is led by multiple medalist Ben, who scooped ISA wins in 2013, 2009 and 2006. Hot on his heels are two-time ISA medalists Tony Silvagni and Phil Rajzman from USA and Brazil respectively, and the 2017 WSL third-place finisher, Kai Sallas from Hawaii.

Ben is feeling confident that the win is in his sights, after having visited the particular waves of Wanning over the past 5 years. He feels comfortable and confident in the surf in China, making this year very likely to be the year he bags to the top spot.

Countries from all five continents of the globe will be represented, with the event set to include the best of the best from the USA, Brazil, South Africa, and Australia, alongside emerging Surfing nations, such as Israel, Russia, China, and Chinese Taipei.
