Our pick of the best pub gardens

There’s nothing quite like supping a pint in the sunshine.

So if you’re looking for a pub with a garden or to perch yourself on a terrace and watch the world go by, we’ve got some great suggestions for the best pub gardens around. These are lovely outside spaces with stunning views and even a spot of al fresco dining thrown in too!

Here is our pick of the best pub gardens to enjoy with a pint of Skinner’s this summer…

The Ship Inn – Porthleven

Set on one of the most picturesques harbours in the country, The Ship Inn is a seaview pub  where you can watch the fishing boats and gulls go by. You can sip a pint of our very own Porthleven from the pub garden while admiring the surf break the beer’s named after! The pub offers simple but well done pub food – we recommend trying the ‘catch of the day’ which is brought directly to the pub doorstep from the harbour!

Shipwrights Arms – Helston Village nr Helston

The Shipwrights Arms sits proudly on the shore of the Helford River. The lush riverside pub garden enjoys stunning views of Helford Passage and out towards the mouth of the river. From here you can relax as the river laps up against the wall or admire the wading birds at low tide. It’s the perfect pub garden to quench your thirst after a long, riverside walk.

YHA Treyarnon Bay – nr Padstow

The YHA Treyarnon isn’t your usual youth hostelling experience – it’s situated just 50 metres from the beach and has some of the best coastal views of any YHA hostel we’ve ever seen! There’s something on for all ages, whether it’s gig nights, surf lessons or just an excuse to enjoy a lazy pint in a pub garden with a cliff-top view.

The Boathouse – Falmouth

Proud winner of ‘Pub of the Year 2019’, The Boathouse has views over Falmouth Harbour, the Penryn River and the picturesque fishing village of Flushing. It’s got quite a history too – having been a licensed pub for over 300 years and one of only a handful of independent, free houses remaining in the area. We think it’s a great place to enjoy a drink and a bite to eat while you watch the boats sail gently past.

The Watering Hole – Perranporth

Feel the sand under your toes as you relax in the UK’s only bar which is actually on the beach! Park yourself on the terrace with a pint and enjoy live music or even the occasional comedy gig. The Watering Hole has a chilled-out vibe where local surfers and tourists rub shoulders at sunset. It’s one of the best places to enjoy a pint of Skinner’s while admiring the surf and a sunset on the beach.

The Northbank Restaurant & Bar – London

Now we’re a bit biased when it comes to Cornwall but there’s the occasional good view up-country too. If you find yourself in London then head to the Northbank Restaurant & Bar. It’s one of the best bars with a view of the Thames – overlooking Millennium bridge towards the Tate Modern. What’s more, you can have your slice of city life and enjoy a pint of Skinner’s there too!

So there you are – a great selection of riverside terraces, beach bars and pub gardens to enjoy this summer. They offer the best places to bask in the sunshine, socialise outside or enjoy a soulful pint on your lonesome at sunset.
